Greetings again everyone…Its been a long while since I’ve updated this blog, but fear not for the incoming sem break means that I’ll upload some of my recent works to the blog, and I may even consider linking this blog with instagram( no crap pictures will be uploaded of course…)

The new Ricoh GR is currently creating a crazy buzz around the internet especially among the street photography community. I am lucky to own one of its ‘ancestor’, the Ricoh GR1s.

It is a compact film camera that use 135mm film and despite being introduce somewhere around 1997, some of the camera feature is still retained on the latest digital version of it. The snap function, the overall magnesium body, and the 28mm lens. There is no other camera model in the world that produce such legendary cult status among the photographer, even by modern standard.

I did a walk from Ochanomizu to Ueno last night and after passing one of two dozen shoe stores in Ameyokocho remembered I needed a pair of black shoelaces for a pair of chucks at home. I just grabbed the first package I found and while in line for the register looked closer and noticed the brand name. What.

This is compiled from the box tabs of every single roll/pack of film I shot in 2012. (Click on the image twice to see it full size: 1000px wide)

Since 2001 I’ve kept a tab from every roll of film I’ve shot in the backs of collage-based photographic journals. In the mid-2000’s I was shooting some 500 rolls a year- I’ve cut back to about 300 or so the past two years. A complete visual collection of all the box-tabs from the past dozen years would result in a much larger image.

Developing your own film keeps costs lower than you’d think and bulk loading (which I don’t often do) makes it even cheaper.

So this months theme was “Quiet” and guess what, I just finished my final exam not too long ago, and seeing this month’s theme was quiet, I figured what better way to quiet down my mind and soul (if any of you believe in that stuff) then by reading my recently received photo books of Rinko Kawauchi. The pictures in the book are perfect for soothing the soul as they are very very calm. And just to spice things back up a little, reading Vita Sexualist from Ogai Mori.
